Apocalypse now at a bookstore

What is it about apocalyptic storylines that make us want to curl up with a good book? Fans of The Strain Trilogy by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan are as hungry as blood-deprived vampires for The Night Eternal, book three in the series, out Oct. 25, about a world over run by a vampire plague. The same goes for The Twelve, the follow-up to Justin Cronin's The Passage, about a zombie/vampire plague, due out in 2012.
